ELSO x Portland Clean Energy Trust (PCEF)

Become a Representative for ELSO’s work in partnership with PCEF

In July of 2022, ELSO Inc. was awarded $1.7 million to create an outdoor learning environment at Prescott Elementary over the course of 4 years. Environmentally-responsible outdoor learning spaces provide access to the natural world, connecting students with community learning. Focusing on climate and environmental justice, this 4-year project will activate community resilience for Prescott Elementary School.

Beyond the direct impact to Prescott Elementary, this unique workforce development opportunity will widen exposure to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), AECD (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Design), and green sector career pathways for Black and Brown youth and young adults ages 14-24. The project will elevate and support Black, Brown, and PoC-led businesses, contractors, program partners, and countless community members.

ELSO will lead a collaborative Project Work Team comprised of key educators, community members, and ELSO staff in ongoing design review and decision-making throughout the project's life.

We are seeking representatives for our Project Work Team who are:

  • Connected to the Parkrose community

  • Experienced with engaging diverse communities in student-driven learning around the environment, justice, climate change, and outdoor learning

  • Knowledgeable on subjects related to creating sustainable landscapes using a climate justice lens.

Successful Work Team members are deeply invested in listening and collaborating through a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion lens and can speak to issues of race, culture, and ability from an “I” perspective. Our team will also reflect the makeup of the Parkrose community and include people of many backgrounds, areas of expertise, and experience levels.

If this sounds like you, reach out to erin@campelso.org (subject line: PCEF) to get on the list to receive more information.
